Policy for Management of Personal Information

   This document describes the policy of Next Step Psychology & Counselling for the management of his practice’s customers/clients’ information.  The psychological service provided is bound by the legal requirements of the National Privacy Principles from the Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000.

Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy governs the manner in which Next Step Psychology & Counselling collects, uses, maintains and discloses information collected from users (each, a “customer or client”) of the Next Step Psychology & Counselling. This Privacy Policy applies to Next Step Psychology & Counselling and all services offered by Next Step Psychology & Counselling .

 Personal identification information

We may collect personal identification information from customers & clients  in a variety of ways, including, but not limited to, when clients and customers enroll in a program or a course of treatment within Next Step Psychology & Counselling , subscribe to a newsletter, and in connection with other activities, services, features, or resources we make available in our practice. We will collect personal identification information from customers & clients only if they voluntarily submit such information to us. Customers & clients can refuse to supply personal identification information but doing so may prevent them from engaging in certain practice related activities.

How we use collected information

Next Step Psychology & Counselling may collect and use clients’ personal identification information for the following purposes:

  • To improve customer service
    Information you provide helps us respond to your customer service requests and support needs more efficiently.

  • To personalize user experience
    We may use information in the aggregate to understand how our clients as a group use the services and resources provided in our practice.

  • To send periodic emails
    We may use customer/client email addresses to send customer/clients information and updates pertaining to their services. Customer/client email addresses may also be used to respond to customer/client inquiries, questions, or other requests.

Sharing your personal information

We do not sell, trade, or rent customer/client personal identification information to others.

Third party websites

Customers/clients may find advertising or other content in our practice that link to the websites and services of our partners, suppliers, advertisers, sponsors, licensors and other third parties. We do not control the content or links that appear on these websites and are not responsible for the practices employed by websites linked to or from our practice. In addition, these websites or services, including their content and links, may be constantly changing. These websites and services may have their own privacy policies and customer service policies. Browsing and interaction on any other website, including websites which have a link to our customer/client, is subject to that website's own terms and policies.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

The practice has the discretion to update this Privacy Policy at any time. We encourage customers/clients to frequently check this page for any changes. You acknowledge and agree that it is your responsibility to review this Privacy Policy periodically and become aware of modifications.

Your acceptance of these terms

By enrolling in the practice, you signify your acceptance of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to this Privacy Policy, please do not enroll in the practice. Your continued enrollment in the practice following the posting of changes to this Privacy Policy will be deemed your acceptance of those changes.

Requests for access to client information

At any stage clients may request to see the information about them kept on file.  The psychologist may discuss the contents with them and/or give them a copy.  All requests by clients for access to information held about them should be lodged with Ian Rumsey.  These requests will be responded to within 7 days and an appointment will be made if necessary for clarification purposes.

Concerns

If you have a concern about the management of your personal information, please inform the practice.  Upon request you can obtain a copy of the National Privacy Principles, which describe your rights and how your information should be handled.  Ultimately, if you wish to lodge a formal complaint about the use of, or access to, your personal information, you may do so with the Office of the Federal Privacy Commissioner on 1300 363 992, or GPO Box 5218, Sydney, NSW 1042.
