Mental health extends beyond a therapy session. That’s why at Next Step, we want to make sure you feel truly supported and connected with your psychologist.
You can check in with your psychologist in-between your fortnightly session appointments to provide updates on how you are tracking.
Look for the ‘send a message’ button below to stay connected.

Next Step offers a free online mental health course through This Way Up.
Your course is specifically prescribed by your psychologist to supplement your wellbeing needs in between therapy sessions. Simply create a login and work through the modules at your own pace.
-
Next Step offers each client with a personalised treatment plan, designed by the psychologist, after you set therapy goals together.
This plan includes a structured and evidence-based approach to how you will take charge of your mental health in session, in a way which you are comfortable. Discuss the plan with your psychologist and see how you can achieve your goals.
-
Written by our very own Next Step psychologists, we upload new blogs regularly to share our expert insights, practical tips, and the latest in psychology to support your mental well-being.
Stay informed and empowered!
-
We love creating and sharing resources to empower you with knowledge!
Our resource hub offers infosheets and worksheets designed to help you understand and apply key aspects of therapy.
Feel free to explore these resources and discuss them in your sessions to enhance your self-management skills.
-
Your Next Step subscription includes access to a range of psychological self-assessments such as the Kessler 10 (K-10), the Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS-21), and Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9).
These assessments help you to gain insight into your symptoms, track changes over time, increase your self-awareness, and support early intervention.
All assessments are self-scored and you are able to share them with your psychologist if you choose.

We are currently offering two different pricing plans within the Next Step Wellness program.
Both plans include full access to the same benefits, including sessions, courses and resources.
The $98 per week option is beneficial for those who do not have a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP). You can enjoy unlimited access to the program benefits, and it is still more affordable than the Australian Psychological Society (APS) recommended therapy session rate of $311 per session (see APS website here).
The $50 per week option provides a further discount for those eligible for a MHCP (see below FAQs for what is a MHCP). This plan includes full access to all program benefits for 20 weeks. After 20 weeks, you have the option to move to the $98 per week plan.
-
A Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) is a support plan created by your Dr (GP) to help you access mental health services. It includes 10 rebated psychology sessions per calendar year. This allows us to further reduce your subscription fees and make therapy more affordable.
To obtain an MHCP, you’ll need to book an appointment with your GP, discuss your mental health concerns, and obtain a referral for a Next Step psychologist.
Note: Eligibility requirements apply (as your GP for details). A MHCP can be renewed every calendar year.
-
Book an appointment with your Family Doctor (General Practitioner - GP) to discuss your mental health concerns, and receive a MHCP and referral to a Next Step psychologist.
Want to see an online General Practitioner (GP)? Check out the list of online providers for a MHCP:
